Budget 2018: Public Input

Type(s)
News

It’s that time of year! The Township of Esquimalt is currently working on its 2018-2022 Financial Plan.

As part of the budget process, each Township department of the Township submits individual budgets.  Council considers this information, as well as other expenditure and revenue data, and arrives at a property tax rate that maintains services, replenishes reserve funds, and anticipates upcoming infrastructure improvements.

Township revenues are derived primarily from property taxes and from Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) from the federal government. Other sources of revenue include permits, licences, municipal fees and charges.

How do you get involved in the budget process? There will be a number of Council meetings through the spring of 2018 for you to provide your input and to let Council know what services are most important to you.

Mark the following dates on your calendar to provide your input:
January 22, 2018 (7 p.m. start)
February 5, 2018 (5:45 p.m. start)
March 13, 2018 (5:45 p.m. start)
April 9, 2018 (7 p.m. start)

All meetings will be held in Municipal Hall Council Chambers, 1229 Esquimalt Road.
