Out of School Care - School Year Program Information & Applications
Esquimalt Recreation Centre offers Out of School Care Programs licensed by the Vancouver Island Health Authority for School Aged Care. Children ages 5-12 (must be currently attending or completed kindergarten) and be enrolled at Macaulay Elementary School to enroll and participate.
Out of School Care Registration 2024/2025
Current OSC Families & Siblings - April 17 at 7:00am - April 24 at 5:00pm
New OSC Families - on April 17 at 7:00am, please register your child on the WAITLIST - Before & After School Care 2024/2025
What do I need to apply?
- Read the Parent Handbook so you are able to accept all terms required for OSC families
- Child’s BC health care card #
- Child’s full Immunization Records
- Child’s family doctor name or preferred walk-in clinic name and office phone numbers
- Min 2 emergency/alternate pick-up contacts names & phone numbers
- Any other alternate pick-up persons names & phone number
- Digital photo of child, headshot for emergency card
- Banking info: credit card or VOID cheque to pay fees.
- Custody or protection order documents (if applicable)
- Child Support/Inclusion Needs Intake Form (if applicable)
- Anaphylaxis and Asthma Forms (if applicable)
Participant Priority Registration Order:
- Current participants applying for exactly what they’re currently registered in as of April 2024
- Current Before School Care participants wanting After Care
- Siblings of current participants entering OSC
- 2023/2024 Preschool participants
- New applicants
Current OSC Participants - Steps to Apply:
- Complete Online Emergency Form 2024/2025 School Year HERE
- Complete 2023/2024 Before/After School Care Application Form (fillable PDF) that was emailed to you by the Program Supervisor.
- Read the 2024/2025 Parent Handbook
- On April 17th Email [email protected] the following items:
- 2024/2025 Before & After School Program Application Form
- Digital photo of child/children, headshot for emergency card (attached to email)
- Banking information: credit card or VOID check for fee payment
- Custody documents (if applicable)
- Child support/inclusion needs intake form (if applicable)
- Anaphylaxis and/or Asthma forms (if applicable)
- Child’s Immunization Records
Deadline to apply: April 24, 2024 by 5:00pm to be processed in priority order
New OSC Families - Steps to apply:
New families are required to register on the 2024/2025 Online Waitlist and will be contacted as spots become available. Waitlist registration opens on April 17 at 7:00am and is ongoing.

- Complete Online Emergency Form 2024/2025 School Year HERE before April 18th at 7:00am
- April 17th at 7:00am Register for the online WAITLIST - Before & After School Care 2024/2025 - that's it!
- The Program Supervisor will contact you when a spot becomes available. If your child is offered a spot then more information will be requested: Child Immunization Records, Child Photo, Banking Info etc.
No Waitlist fee is required to apply. Upon being offered a place in the program a $30 processing fee will be charged once registration is confirmed.

Before School Care
Need to start work before the school starts? Register your child in our Before School Care Program! Our childcare staff will look after your child as early as 6:30am. Children are divided up into groups based on age and will be playing games, making crafts, reading books. At 8:30am children are walked to the school by staff to start their school day.
- Location: Esquimalt Recreation Centre
- Program Time: 6:30am-9:00am
- Fees: $9.25/day for 10 months (CCFRI reduction not included)
After School Care
Enjoy being free from the stress of making it off work in time to pick up your child! Our after school care childcare staff will pick up the kids at the school and bring them back to the rec centre. Enrolled children are split into groups based on age. Groups participate in scheduled activities that include gym time, arts & crafts, circle games, even skating & swimming once a month! Parents can pick up any time before 6:00pm.

- Program Time: 2:37pm-6:00pm (Monday - Friday)
- Fees: $17.25/day for 10 months (CCFRI reduction not included)
Pro D Day & Early Dismissal
- We offer Pro D Day and Early Dismissal care options on SD61 and Macaulay Elementary School Pro D days. Pro D Days and Early Dismissals are separate registrations and are not included in regular OSC fees. Pro D Days are reserved for current OSC families. If space permits spots will be opened up to the public.

Affordable Childcare Benefit

Support & Inclusion
If your child requires extra support or qualifies for funding through Supported Child Development or Aboriginal Supported Child Development, please fill out the Child Support/Inclusion Needs Intake Form below and email the OSC Supervisor at [email protected] prior to registration.
