Preschool - School Year Program Information & Applications  

School year: September 9, 2024 - June 23, 2025

Licensed Preschool & Puddle Jumpers registration 2024/2025

March 26, 2024 – until spaces are filled.

Applications will be reviewed for completion and families will be contacted via email to confirm registration. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Please ensure you have all the requirements below before submitting your application. 

Preschool application requirements 

  • Complete the Application Package, including the Parent Handbook
  • Child’s BC health care card #
  • Child’s full immunization records
  • Child’s family doctor name or preferred walk-in clinic name and office phone numbers
  • Min 2 emergency/alternate pick-up contacts names & phone numbers
  • Any other alternate pick-up persons names & phone number
  • Digital photo of child, headshot for emergency card
  • Banking info: credit card or VOID cheque to pay fees 
  • Custody documents (if applicable)
  • Child Support/Inclusion Needs Intake Form (if applicable)
  •  Anaphylaxis and Asthma Forms (if applicable) 

Steps to apply: 

1. Complete the 2024/2025 Preschool Application Package (including Parent Handbook) 

2. Email [email protected] with the following:

  • Completed Preschool Application
  • Immunization Records
  • Child’s head shot photo
  • Custody or Protection Order documents (if applicable) 
  • Child Support/Inclusion Needs Intake Form (if applicable)
  • Anaphylaxis (if applicable)
  • Asthma Forms (if applicable)

If your child requires extra support tor qualifies for funding through Supported Child Development please fill out the Child Support/Inclusion Needs Intake form below, and email the Recreation Programmer at [email protected] prior to registration.

General Programs Information:

  • Application forms must be completed in full before registration is completed. 
  • Once a space is confirmed for your child(ren), a $30.00/family registration processing fee applies.
  • Monthly payment plan available.

Esquimalt Recreation Licensed Preschool (3-5 yrs) 2023/2024 

Allow your child to explore their creativity through an array of exciting activities including circle time, arts & crafts, outdoor time, singing & dancing, and so much more! Our ECE certified staff provide a fun and safe environment for your little one to grow and develop their cognitive, physical, and social skills at their own pace. 

SCHEDULE 

School Year: September 9, 2024 – June 13, 2025 

*Closed STAT holidays and follow SD61 winter break and spring break closures 

 

Monday/Wednesday/Friday Class (3-5yrs) 

9:00am – 1:00pm 

Fees: $25.75/day for 10 months (not including CCFRI reduction)  

*Children MUST be at least 3 years-old, and fully potty trained before starting this program. 

 

OUR PHILOSOPHY 

At the Esquimalt Recreation Preschool it is our belief that the children’s families are their first and most important teachers. We take inspiration from Early Childhood Education approaches such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori, as well as learning through play. We value emergent learning and giving children the opportunity to explore any concepts, questions, or curiosities that arise. We put an emphasis on social emotional learning so our program guides children to help them learn problem solving skills, regulate their emotions and encourage positive peer interactions.

OUR CENTRE 

The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a beautiful facility that we are happy to call home. Our licensed classroom is in the Pioneer B Room of the Esquimalt Rec Centre. We are lucky to have use of the wonderful amenities such as the Gymnasium, the Adventure Park Playground as well as many neighbouring parks for our walking out-trips.

Puddle Jumpers Nature Preschool

This program focuses on learning through outdoor play with teachers acting as facilitators to support and build on children’s interests. This program provides opportunities for children to share ideas, build new friendships and grow into amazing little people! *Children MUST be fully potty trained before starting this program. 

Location: Saxe Point Park, Esquimalt

SCHEDULE

School year: September 10, 2024 – June 12, 2025

*Closed STAT holidays and follows the SD61 winter and spring break scheduled closures. 

 

Tuesday/Thursday Class (3-5yrs)

9:15am-12:00pm

 

Fees: $18/day for 10 months.

Please note. Puddle Jumpers is NOT a licensed program; therefore it is not eligible for the Affordable Child Care Benefit or Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative.
