Esquimalt’s local grants program is designed to assist not-for-profit societies and other non-profit and community organizations to achieve their objectives.
At the December 1, 2025 Council meeting a motion was adopted by Council;
That Council place a moratorium on future local grant applications for 2026.
- Local Grant Applications are currently not open due to multi-year agreements, and a further moratorium has been placed on additional 2026 funding.
- View 2020 - 2025 local grant recipients, which includes 2026 agreements already in place.
- The updated Local Grant Policy ADM-83 and new Local Grant Guidelines will come into effect once Council approves future funding past 2026.

Permissive Tax Exemption
Esquimalt's permissive tax exemption policy provides a means for Council to support organizations within the community which further Council's objectives of enhancing quality of life (economic, social, cultural) and delivering services economically.
Applications are due by no later than August 31 at 4:30 p.m. annually, and preference is given to organizations based in Esquimalt or organizations that provide services to Esquimalt residents.
