About the Opportunity:

The Public Works Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a regular full-time Refuse Collector Truck Driver position.  Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor. As a Refuse Collector the incumbent will perform manual labour tasks in collection of household refuse and food waste including the operation of a refuse truck. The current truck has a side lifter that assists in dumping the waste into the truck, some physical lifting of cans at bus stops. 

Our Preferred Candidate:

The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in refuse collection, a positive attitude, and a strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A current and valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence is required, and a Class 3 B.C. licence with air brake endorsement would be a strong asset. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required.

Salary: $31.80 hourly plus benefits ( 2024 rates)

Hours per week: 40
