About the Opportunity:
The Township of Esquimalt is seeking a motivated individual to fill a part-time Auxiliary Bylaw Officer position. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Bylaw Officer interprets, monitors, investigates and manages compliance with Township bylaws, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Our Preferred Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years related experience with recognized certification or training in Bylaw Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Community Safety, or a related field, and a Class 5 Driver’s Licence. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Understanding of municipal bylaws, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements,
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in complex and sensitive situations;
- Experience responding to inquiries or complaints, conducting investigations and inspections, and supporting community awareness related to bylaws, policies and/or regulatory requirements;
- Proven ability to maintain cooperative working relationships within internal departments, outside agencies, community organizations, and the general public; and,
- Experience creating, organizing and maintaining accurate and complete departmental records, files and technical library.
Salary: $45.38 – $48.96 hourly. This rate includes 14% in lieu of benefits.
