About the Opportunity:
The Department of Engineering and Public Works is seeking a motivated individual to fill a regular full-time Manager of Public Works position. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Public Works, the Manager is responsible for providing leadership to the Public Works Department to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of public works operations and services. This role manages the day-to-day operations of utilities, refuse collection, sewer collection, drains, streets and roads, sidewalks, traffic signals, street lighting, painting, sidewalks, bus shelters, and parks maintenance. The Manager works collaboratively with the Engineering Department and as a member of the senior management team and will participate in the overall strategic direction for the Township.
Our Preferred Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in an engineering or public works environment.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Extensive knowledge of infrastructure systems and the principles and practices involved in the administration and operation of municipal public works and engineering;
- Thorough understanding of management principles, project management, financial and budgetary processes, informational technology, and contract administration including the public procurement process;
- Proven ability to lead, direct, and manage staff in a unionized environment, and work collaboratively with numerous stakeholders;
- Experience working with members of the public, contractors, outside agencies and other municipalities to resolve issues of mutual concern;
- Experience coordinating and developing asset management activities;
- Knowledge of WSBC occupational health and safety regulations as applicable to public works activities.
