Repair work at Municipal Hall

News

Repair work is underway on the west side of Esquimalt Municipal Hall to seal three concrete joints in order to prevent structural damage to the building.

For public safety, the sidewalk adjacent to the building will be closed, and a temporary plywood sidewalk will be in place to provide a pedestrian detour route.  The plywood sidewalk has been treated with an anti-slip coating for safety.

A small area within the outdoor mural “Re-emergence of the Lifebringers” will be affected by the repair. The artist, Marianne Nicolson, will be on site to preserve the integrity of the mural.

In addition, a branch on one of the Garry oak trees next to the exterior wall will be trimmed back for site and public safety.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
