Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Aquatic Department is seeking motivated individuals to fill auxiliary Fun Leader positions in the swimming pool. Reporting to the Aquatic Programmer, this role is responsible for leading and supervising safe swim activities with the public. It is an ideal role for someone with strong interpersonal skills and interest in water safety.

Duties include:

  • Supervising the use of pool features such as slides, inflatable play equipment and running mat.
  • Support the lifeguard team in facilitating safe use of the pool and responding to emergencies.
  • Planning and leading games in the pool and pool area.

Desired qualifications:

  • Bronze Cross certification
  • Standard First Aid + CPR-C
  • Minimum 15 years of age

Salary: $19.91 – $21.49 hourly plus 14% in lieu of benefits (2023 rates)

Hours: Primarily weekends with some evening opportunities, up to 40 hours per week
