Welcome 2023!

To start the New Year off right, recreation facility admissions on New Year’s Day will be free.

Public swimming will be available 1 3 p.m. at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre and public skating 1 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. at the Archie Browning Sports Centre. Details.

Join us for our January 1 New Years Levée from 1-2:30 p.m.


Municipal hall and archives are closed January 2.

Holiday garbage collection schedule south side route (January 2):

Residents whose normal pickup day is Monday January 2 will have their garbage collected on Tuesday January 3 along with the regularly scheduled Tuesday pickup.

2023 garbage collection calendars are posted on our website.

Yard & garden facility holiday hours December 31 – January 3

  • Saturday December 31: closed at 12 p.m.
  • January 1–3: closed
  • Wednesday January 4: open regular hours (8 a.m.–5 p.m.)

Tree chipping

Arching Browning Sports Centre back lot • January 7 & 8–10AM to 4PM The holidays' festivities have come to a close and it is time to take down the decorations. Let the Compassionate Resource Warehouse volunteers help you dispose of your tree at their tree chipping event. This service is provided by donation and helps subsidize their youth programming.
