Esquimalt, B.C.—Sections of Esquimalt Road will be undergoing paving until October 28 as active transportation improvements are made from Dominion Road to Lampson Street.

The project includes resurfaced pavement from Dominion Road to Lampson Street with separated bike lanes added to the route. Residents will also see a new crosswalk added at Dominion Road, complete with flashing lights. There are no lane reductions as a part of this project.

It’s important to note that the paving location in the overall project area will shift as work is completed. Single lane alternating traffic will be used as needed in the work zones. Side roads and alternate routes are available to commuters throughout the construction period.

Traffic details

•    The paving work will take place between 7am and approximately 3pm on weekdays
•    Single-lane alternating traffic will be in place as paving proceeds through the project zone
•    Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct traffic

The township is aiming to have the project substantially completed by next month before fall weather sets in and to resume normal traffic patterns for residents and businesses. The ability to pave is constrained by low temperatures or during periods of high rain and staff are actively working with the contractor to reach completion.

Significant traffic notices are posted at Esquimalt.ca/traffic and through the Esquimalt Alert app.
