About our organization:
The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programs to choose from.

About the opportunity:
The Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a Kids Soccer Instructor (Recreation Leader 1) position. This is an auxiliary position. Scheduled shift is Wednesday evenings 3:30-6:30pm. Reporting to the Child, Youth and Family Programmer.
Our preferred candidate:
The preferred candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring a fun and safe environment for all participants through site and risk management
- Lesson planning and program implementation
- Consistently instruct engaging, interactive classes
- Communicating and working cooperatively with participants, parents, and supervisors
- A strong knowledge of soccer techniques and safety
- Set-up and clean-up of the teaching space before and after each class
- Providing excellent customer service and public relations
The ideal candidate will have:
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification
- Experience planning and leading children’s programs and activities for children ages 3-10 years old
- Clear criminal record check including vulnerable sector check
Salary: $23.75 – $25.67 hourly. This rate includes an additional 14% in lieu of benefits.
Hours per week: 3 hours: 3:30-6:30pm
Anticipated length of term: September 10 – October 29, November 12 – December 17, 2025.
