About the Opportunity:

The Public Works Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator’s position. Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor, the candidate will perform the following duties: operate heavy vehicles and equipment such as backhoe, asphalt roller, crane truck and street sweeper. Job duties also include excavating trenches, pulling stumps, load brush, move rocks, spread gravel, snow removal when required. Operator will be expected to help with sidewalks, asphalt application, underground utilities and assisting the Labourer II at times. 

Performs pre-and post-trips, equipment inspections, report repairs to Supervisor or Lead Mechanic, check first aid kits and safety equipment, fill out daily logs.

Our Preferred Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years experience operating a backhoe or excavator. Experience operating a loader would be considered at asset. Class 3 with air endorsement would be a definite asset. Safety must be a priority.  

Salary: $33.95 hourly plus benefits (2024 rates)

Hours per week: 40
