Earth Day 2020: energy efficiency at home

Did you know? Residential buildings account for 20% of our Greenhouse gas emissions in Esquimalt. All buildings combined create over 45% of the Township’s carbon emissions.

Most of this is  from space and water heating.

Oil heating alone accounts for 10 per cent of our emissions.  Oil heating is not only a large source of greenhouse gases, it  is also the most expensive way to heat your home.  Use heat pump image from poster attached.

If you are not in the market for a new heating system, upgrading your windows, weather stripping, and increasing the insulation in your home can also lower your bills and decrease the carbon emissions from your home.
