Township Welcomes New Deputy Fire Chief

The Township of Esquimalt is pleased to announce the appointment of Ray Saurette to the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Ray will commence his duties Tuesday October 2nd, 2012.

Ray brings over 30 years of experience to his new role in the Township. He began his career as a Fire Service Coordinator for the City of Airdre, Alberta in 1981. Since then Ray has worked for Jasper National Park as Fire Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief and Fire Chief for the District of Squamish. Since 2009, Ray has been the Fire Rescue Team Lead for BC Hydro.

“We are very happy to have Ray on our emergency services team,” said Chief Administrative Officer Laurie Hurst. “He brings a wealth of experience gained from a variety of organizations and experiences, including other municipalities, and I look forward to his contributions and enhancements to our emergency services program. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Deputy Chief Gord Anderson for his many years of dedication to the Township.”
