Township to Shine Once Again with Bloomin' Beautiful Contest

It’s spring, so it must be time to shine Esquimalt! The Township of Esquimalt will again be hosting the Bloomin’ Beautiful Home and Garden Contest through its Parks and Recreation Department. The contest officially starts tomorrow, April 8th, and runs through June.

“Bloomin’ Beautiful is becoming an Esquimalt tradition since being introduced in our 2012 centennial celebrations,” said Mayor Barb Desjardins. “It is a great platform to showcase the vitality and beauty of our community, and it expresses the spirit of neighbourhood pride that is such an important component of a healthy and close-knit community.”

Contest categories include: large garden, small garden, environmental practices, curb appeal, and, new to the 2014 contest, artistic garden and people’s choice. For people’s choice voting, photos of semi-finalists (as determined by contest judges) will be on display at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre June 4th through 12th and at Buccaneer Days on June 14th.The public is also invited to vote through the Esquimalt Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

Winners in each category will be announced June 25th, 2014.
