The time limit for registering secondary suites without a suite or building permit fee will end October 31, 2010. Complete applications with supporting documents received by the municipality before the end of October will be processed free of charge. After this date regular building inspection fees and the suite permit fee will be charged.
Esquimalt residents are reminded that existing secondary suites are not legal unless the owner obtains a permit from the municipality. To obtain a suite permit, a suite must comply with municipal regulations and the Building Code.
