May 21 – 27, 2023 is Public Works Week.

This year’s theme is “Connecting the World Through Public Works.”

Public works connects us all through infrastructure and service, enhancing the quality of life for our community.

Public works connectors help keep communities strong by providing an infrastructure of services in transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater treatment, public buildings and spaces, parks and grounds, emergency management and first response, solid waste, and right-of-way management. They are what make our communities great places to live and work. Join us in celebrating the quiet work these professionals do that makes life better for all of us.

In the Township of Esquimalt, Public Works ensures that the existing infrastructure is maintained and operated in an effective manner as well as providing additions or improvements to existing infrastructure.

The infrastructure falls into three main groups: linear (roads, sidewalks, sewers, drains), vertical (building maintenance, signage, intersections, streetlights) and mobile (purchase and maintenance of vehicles).

We appreciate all the good work they do for our community!
