Esquimalt, BC— Indigenous youth from throughout the province have gathered in Esquimalt to get hands-on experience with firefighting training. The First Nations' Emergency Services Society is holding a two-day workshop in partnership with Esquimalt Fire Rescue Services, Canadian Forces Base, and Victoria Fire Rescue. The workshop is part of Gathering Our Voices- an annual Indigenous youth leadership training event. The firefighting workshop is meant to both provide a taste of the skills involved in the firefighting profession as well as provide leadership skills. The training is taking place at the CFB USAR Training ground. Approximately 15 youth are taking part in the workshop on March 20 and 21.
