Esquimalt Council has approved the overall direction of the most recent design option for the Esquimalt Village Plan (EVP).
The new design option is contained in the booklet Esquimalt Village Core: Phase 1 Development. The booklet includes background information on the development of the EVP and the planning principles used to develop the preferred option. It also includes design guideline directions on the envisioned form and character of village buildings, as well as a landscaping plan, and public realm guidelines for the plaza, open spaces and walkways.

Council endorsed the option at a Committee of the Whole meeting on October 12th, and passed a resolution of support at a Council meeting on October 18th, 2010.
Staff is currently working with the EVP consulting team to draft the appropriate amending bylaws for both the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw and intend to present these for Council consideration in early 2011.
