Esquimalt will be looking greener in the New Year thanks to receiving a 2008 BC Hydro Community Regreening Grant. BC Hydro’s generous grant will help fund the Township of Esquimalt’s tree replacement program.

Esquimalt’s Manager of Parks Services, Andy Katschor, already has plans on how to spend the grant money. “The tree planting grant will be directed to low zone planting under power lines along the Township of Esquimalt’s boulevards and planting trees and native vegetation in restoration areas and in our parks,” said Andy Katschor.

The Township of Esquimalt has been receiving the BC Hydro grant for a number of years; however, the 2008 grant is the largest to date, being valued at $8,000.
