Esquimalt Fire Rescue Reminds Residents that Fireworks Prohibited in the Township

Esquimalt Fire Rescue would like to remind the public that possessing, selling or discharging fireworks within the Municipality is prohibited under Bylaw No. 2663, A Bylaw to Regulate the Use of Fireworks.

VicPD enforces this bylaw and failure to comply results in seizures and fines. The maximum fine for an infraction is $10,000 with a minimum of $200. Under the bylaw it is possible to apply for an exception through a Fireworks Supervisor Certificate. For more information on acquiring a certificate please click here.

Motorists are also reminded to be extra cautious and watch for trick-or-treaters crossing the streets this Halloween.
