If you are eligible for a home owner grant, you must also apply for it by July 2, 2019.

Failing to do so means that the unclaimed/unpaid balance will be subject to penalty.

The purpose of the Home Owner Grant is to help reduce the amount of residential property tax British Columbians pay. The basic grant can reduce your property tax by as much as $570. The minimum tax payable ($350) ensures that all property owners contribute towards the funding of local services such as road maintenance and police protection.

  • Note that you can claim your home owner grant even if you are not making a payment to your property tax account.

Home owner grants may be claimed electronically by visiting esquimalt.ca/homeownergrant. You will require your folio number and access code from your property tax notice.
