ESQUIMALT, BC—The Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) has had just over one month to add some of the finishing touches to the recently relocated Esquimalt Branch.

The GVPL and Township of Esquimalt are inviting the community to attend a celebration on May 7 to formally open the new location.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Several family-friendly activities will follow words from Mayor Barbara Desjardins, GVPL Board Chair Andy MacKinnon, architects Frank D’Ambrosio and Erica Sangster in addition to Base Commander Capt(N) Jeff Hutchinson.

Music will be provided by Cookdeilgh Celtic band.

There will be balloon artists, face painting and costumed characters to delight kids of all ages. The library will host story time in the specially-designed kids area of the branch.
The festivities will be outdoors in the plaza where guests can have refreshments, listen to music and learn about township history from local historian and author, Sherri Robinson.

Visitors can tour the library and learn about features such as the Digital Media Lab.
