The Township of Esquimalt and its CUPE employees made an early Christmas delivery to the Esquimalt Neighbourhood House on Friday December 18th in the form of four large pallets of donated food, weighing an estimated 2500 pounds. This is roughly double the amount of food donated in 2014.

Donations for the drive were collected from generous residents during regularly scheduled garbage pickup days in December and also accepted at Municipal Hall, the Esquimalt Recreation Centre, Archie Browning Sports Centre, and the Public Works Yard.

Mayor Barbara Desjardins and Public Works employees were on hand to present the donated food to Esquimalt Neighbourhood House Coordinator of Counselling Services Brenda Macevicius and several of the organizations’ volunteers. Food donation boxes will remain in Township facilities throughout the holiday season.

AGAIN, THANK YOU ESQUIMALT RESIDENTS FOR YOUR DONATIONS AND TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE 2015 PUBLIC WORKS CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE.
