Join Esquimalt’s Parks and Recreation staff for story time in the park. These stories are intended for children ages 3-6, but all are welcome. These stories will focus on environmental education and will be followed by a nature walk in Saxe Point Park. Parent or caregiver supervision is required. Help your little ones gain an appreciation for nature, reading, and Esquimalt's beautiful parks

The story on July 7th is Tokyo Digs a Garden written by Jon-Erik Lappano and illustrated by Helen Hatanaka.

This beautifully illustrated children's book takes us on a journey with Tokyo and his cat, Kevin. When a mysterious old woman gives Tokyo some seeds, he grows a forest so large it takes over the city. The result is a thoughtful and inspiring fable of environmentalism and imagination.

Tokyo Digs a Garden is by a Canadian author and won a Governor General's Literary Award for Young People's Literature.
