Esquimalt Celebration of Lights in December

Dino Fiorin, a long time resident of Esquimalt, and past President of the Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce had a dream to create a family affair and “light up Esquimalt”. In partnership with Esquimalt Neighborhood House, the Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce, Country Grocer and Esquimalt Lions, the project was launched in December, 2006.
In the first year, the Celebration of Lights began as a wonderful, free community event with “Xmas in the Town Square” and continued on to the light up event and entertainment in the Esquimalt plaza. As the event grew and expanded it became necessary to move it to the Archie Browning Sports Centre.
In 2007, the first Celebration of Lights parade added to the festivities, and a lighting contest was added in 2008. Whether you light up your balcony, home, business or street, everyone is encouraged to embrace the spirit of the season. Come on out to Esquimalt and enjoy an evening of fun and excitement!
