About our Organization:
The Esquimalt Gorge Pavilion is a multi-purpose wellness and community facility. Sitting at 6000+ sq ft the building features remarkable Japanese-inspired architecture to complement the scenic Japanese Gardens. The Pavilion covers two floors, both with stunning views of the water. Each floor contains 3000 sq ft of rentable space along with a servery. This beautiful setting makes the Pavilion a highly desired setting for weddings, special events, reunions, and corporate events.

About the Opportunity:
The Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill an auxiliary Receptionist position. Reporting to the Pavilion Supervisor, the successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service and exhibit strong multi-tasking skills. Tasks include answering inquiries regarding community programs, events, and services both on the phone and over the counter, operating registration and point-of sale software, running facility tours for interested parties, handling cash and preparing daily cash-outs, and being a central point of communication for the day-to-day operation for public and staff.
Our Preferred Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have:
- One year of office/reception and cash-handling experience – or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Graduation from senior secondary school
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal with public in a courteous and tactful manner
- Experience operating computer programs including Microsoft Office, point of sale software, and using computer databases (preferable)
- Provision of a current, clean Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector check
- Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
Salary: $26.42 – $28.53 hourly which includes 14% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates)
Hours: Shifts vary, between 3:00-9:00 pm on weekdays and 12:00-4:00pm on weekends
