Update, 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 - We have experienced a technical issue this morning and as a result, swim lesson registration will open at 9am online, in-person and by phone. We apologize for any inconvenience. Your understanding is appreciated.
We know many are eagerly anticipating the release of the swim lesson schedule in print in advance of registration opening on December 11th. Staff are working hard behind the scenes to maximize the number of lessons available due to overwhelming demands while balancing available resources, most notably staffing (swim instructors).
We would like to take this opportunity to highlight and encourage anyone interested to explore aquatic training as a lifeguard, swim and/or waterfit instructor. There is a significant staffing shortfall in the region. All aquatic facilities in the region are working collaboratively and with the regulatory agencies to mentor, train and appropriately certify persons. If you are interested in working in aquatics, we have helpful links available on our website, see here: esquimalt.ca/jobskills.
Please note while the swim lesson schedule is not yet available in print, the current schedule is available online (see here). The schedule is managed in real-time and will always have the most up-to-date information. We hope to have the printed schedules available by Tuesday, in advance of Wednesday's registration opening.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are grateful to be working with you to keep children safe in, on and around the water.
