Application packages for Esquimalt Recreation Out of School Care and Preschool Programs will be accepted starting April 9th, received through the Esquimalt Recreation Centre front desk.  Applications will be processed starting April 17th, 2019 in priority order:

  1. Current participants applying for same programs (registered in as of April 2019)
  2. Current Before Care participants wanting After Care
  3. Siblings of current participants entering OSC
  4. 2018/2019 Preschool Participants
  5. New registrants

*After April 17, 2019 we will continue accepting applications for the waitlist.

Out of School Care

Esquimalt Recreation Centre offers Out of School Care Programs licensed by the Vancouver Island Health Authority for School Aged Care for students attending Macaulay Elementary School. Children ages 5-12 (must be currently attending or completed kindergarten) are eligible to participate. 

As the School District 61 Calendar for the 2019-2020 year is not yet available, registration for Pro-D Days, Winter Break, Early Dismissal Days and Spring Break will follow at a later (not yet determined) date. Registration for these programs will be open to Out of School Care program participants first.

Preschool

*Fee calculations based on 2018-2019 rates. Schedule will follow School District 61 Calendar which is not yet available. Pricing and program dates will be confirmed after School District 61 announces their calendar. 

Licensed Programs Available:

Esquimalt Preschool (3-5yrs) 

Allow your child to explore their creativity through an array of exciting activities including free play, arts & crafts, singing & dancing, story time, and so much more. Our ECE certified staff provide a fun and safe environment for your little one to grow and develop their cognitive, physical, and social skills at their own pace. Join us in the mornings or afternoons, where having fun is rule number one!

  • Tue/Thu 9:00am-12:00pm  $1,368.00/72*

Kinderstart Preschool 

This program will focus on Kindergarten preparation. Children will learn through play, while developing fine & gross motor skills in addition to social skills. This program is designed for children entering kindergarten the following year. Children must be 4 years of age by Dec 31.

  • Mon/Fri 12:30pm-3:00pm  $1,530.00/102*

Creative Play Preschool

This program will focus on learning through play indoors and by exploring the outdoors.  As we begin to transition this year towards an outdoor program.  Children will continue to have opportunities to share ideas, develop fine and gross motor skills while building new friendships and social skills.  Fees are calculated at $14/class for 10 months.  Monthly fees will vary.  Ongoing registration while space permits.

Tue/Thu 9:15am-11:45am  $1,080.00/72*

Fantastique Fridays

Extend your week with this terrific Friday class.  Your child will be introduced to the French language through songs, stories and rhymes.  Our ECE Instructors will chose monthly themes inspired by the interests of the group and may include, cooking, seasons, space, friendships and more .  Each class will include free play, art activities and circle time with a focus on fun and beginner French.  Fees are calculated at $15/class for 10 months.  Monthly fees will vary. Ongoing registration while space permits.  Register online and pay for the entire year, or call Esquimalt Recreation to set up payment plan.

Not Licensed Preschool-Aged School Year Programs

Puddle Jumpers Nature Program

This program will focus on learning through play indoors and by exploring the outdoors.  Children work together, share ideas, develop fine and gross motor skills while building new friendships and social skills - indoors & out!  Monthly fees will vary.  Ongoing registration while space permits.  

  • Location Drop Off: Saxe Point Park
  • Location Pick Up: Saxe Point Park
  • Sep 10-Jun 11 Tue/Thu  9:15am-11:45am  

Please note:

  •  Puddle Jumpers is NOT a licensed program, therefore it is not eligible for the Affordable Child Care Benefit (Subsidy).

  • Since Puddle Jumpers is NOT licensed please used the application package linked below. This is a different application package from the Licensed Preschool Programs.  If you are looking register in Puddle Jumpers and a License  Preschool Camp, two different application packages are required.

  • For 2019-2020, drop-off and pick-up with be done at Saxe Point Park.


General Information

 

Affordable Childcare Benefit

We accept families receiving Affordable Childcare Benefit. This benefit is available for Licensed Out of School Care and Licensed Preschool programs only. To learn more about this benefit and to apply through the Minitrsy of Children and Families, please see here. Please note:

  •  It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to apply for benefit. Affordable Childcare Benefit Forms can be picked up from reception.
  • Please apply early as benefit can take up to 3 months to be processed through the Ministry of Families & Children.
  • Parents/Guardians are required to pay for camp(s) until Esquimalt Recreation has received receipt and value of the benefit approval.

If your child carries an epi-pen or inhaler please complete the appropriate form or, if your child takes any other medication during program time please complete the appropriate Emergency Medical Care Form:
