Thank you for your feedback!
The Township of Esquimalt is taking action on climate change. We're taking your feedback to help us shape Esquimalt’s pathway to becoming a low-carbon, healthy and livable community!
This informative, game-like public survey was open to all Esquimalt residents, businesses and others who frequently visit or pass through our community in late 2020. The survey closed January 1, 2021.
Once our consultant has summarized the results of the survey, staff will be working with Community Energy Association to prepare a draft climate mitigation plan to present to Council. This process is expected to take a few weeks. If you are interested in receiving updates on Esquimalt’s climate action plan and notification of any reports to Council, please send an email to [email protected] and we will add you to our mailing list.
On April 12, 2019, Esquimalt joined more than 30 communities in B.C. and more than 1,700 communities around the world by declaring a climate emergency. Since then, the Township has embarked on a climate action planning project that will address climate mitigation (reducing current greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change) and adaptation (taking action to help our communities and ecosystems cope with the consequences of climate change) both in the Township’s operations and community-wide.
Our consultant for developing the Community Climate Mitigation Plan, Community Energy Association, has partnered with Ethelo’s e-Democracy team for this public engagement. More than a feedback survey, going through this process is meant to be highly informative and fun as you create your ideal climate plan for our community.
