Children & Youth

Are you interested in teaching your family about sustainability issues in your community?

There are many resources available that teach children about environmental sustainability and how to participate in or initiate community events that shape their future.

Ollie’s World is a comprehensive resource centre presenting information on sustainability principles. Characters and activities are incorporated into a stimulating website, so children can extend their knowledge of sustainability and related issues in a fun and entertaining way. There is also a section for parents and educators.

The Canadian Institute of Planners has published A Kid’s Guide to Building Great Communities to teach children and youth about urban planning and community development. It contains ready-made exercises and materials and  for all ages. It is particularly useful for the classroom, as the topics fit well curriculum areas, such as social studies, language arts, science and mathematics.
