Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is Canada’s national housing agency. Established in 1946 to address Canada’s post-war housing shortage, the agency has grown to become a major national institution. CMHC offers tips on how to make your home more efficient, as well as, rebates on everything from home insurance to energy efficient window upgrades.

Energy-Efficient New Homes program is available through Natural Resources Canada. The EnerGuide Rating System provides a measure of your home’s energy performance. The ENERGY STAR qualified home program offers financial incentives for builders and buyers of energy efficient new homes.

Transit Pass Tax Credit - Since July 1, 2006, the federal government has offered individuals a non-refundable tax credit to cover the cost of a monthly (or longer duration) public transit pass for commuting on buses, streetcars, subways, commuter trains, or local ferries.
