Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.
The Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill an auxiliary Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor, and Wellness Centre Attendant position. Reporting to the Fitness Programmer, the ideal candidate will:
- Lead private, semi-private and small group personal training sessions/programs for patrons of Esquimalt Recreation Centre
- Instruct a variety of fitness classes including circuit, strength and condition, aerobic, step, HIIT, and bootcamp
- Supervise the Wellness Centre (weight room) which includes maintaining a healthy and safe environment for the patrons, cleaning and maintaining equipment, leading orientations and fitness assessments, following public health orders when applicable, and other related duties
- Share passion and enthusiasm for fitness and health
- Be able to promote programs and services of the Esquimalt Recreation Centre as part of the fitness team
- Provide excellent customer service.
Other preferred qualifications include:
- BCRPA Personal Trainer Certification or Equivalent (CSEP, NASM, ACE etc..)
- BCRPA Group Fitness Certification or Equivalent (CSEP, NASM, ACE etc..)
- 2 years experience as a Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current First Aid and CPR-C
- Current Criminal Record Check
