Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Public Works Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time regular Labourer II position. This position reports to the Public Works Supervisor and will be responsible for performing manual labouring functions on a variety of projects.

An example of manual labour duties include: loading trucks; forming, screeding and finishing concrete; digging trenches; and laying sewer pipes. The incumbent will use a variety of hand tools and power equipment such as a compressor, jackhammer, cement mixer, drills, and saws.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Partial High School
  • Current and valid class 5 B.C. driver’s licence
  • Class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement (preferred)
  • Two years of related experience

Salary:  Pay Band 4, Salary $27.94 hourly plus benefits
Hours per week:  40
