Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Financial Services Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time regular Finance Clerk II – Payroll position. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the incumbent will perform a variety of payroll functions such as the production of bi-weekly pay runs; preparation of payroll reports, forms, and remittances; and assisting with year-end payroll procedures. Additionally this position administers the WorkSafeBC and dog licensing processes, assists with employee benefits administration, and provides customer service and clerical support to the Finance Department.  

The ideal candidate will have high school graduation, the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification, and two years of related experience. Other preferred qualifications include:

•    Knowledge of current payroll practices, procedures, and legislation;
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains Canadian payroll software and a high level of proficiency creating and manipulating data in spreadsheets; and,
•    Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work effectively in and contribute positively to a team environment.

Salary: $30.13 – $32.48 hourly plus benefits
