Located adjacent to downtown Victoria, Esquimalt is a residential community (population 17,000) with extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.
This is a Regular Part time position requiring the incumbent to work with the Community Recreation
area of Parks and Recreation starting October 2020. Scheduled hours vary. Incumbent must be available Mon - Fri between 8:45am - 3:00pm.
DUTIES:
- Plan, develop, and implement ½ day preschool curriculum designed to meet children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative, cultural, emotional and developmental needs in a play-based environment.
- Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music.
- Build children’s social and interpersonal skills and self-esteem by establishing routines and positive guidance policies that allow children to feel secure, comfortable and safe.
- Assess the developmental level of children.
- Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities.
- Prepare progress reports and discuss with parents and other staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.C. License to Practice as an Early Childhood Educator
- ECE or ECE-A Certification or Diploma
- Current First Aid Certification
- Clear criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector (as required by BC Child Care Licensing Regulation)
Salary: $18.23-$19.72 per hour plus benefits.
