Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Esquimalt Parks and Recreation Department is seeking two motivated individuals to fill a regular full-time Custodial Maintenance Worker position. Reporting to the Maintenance Lead Hand or Supervisor.

The ideal candidates will perform routine cleaning services in the Recreation Centre and Parks washrooms.  Monitor, clean, and disinfect change rooms, washrooms, activity rooms, lockers, and hallways. Setting up rooms for functions indoors and for outdoor events.  Also handling various cleaning materials.  Test and adjust pool chemistry.  Perform routine servicing and maintenance of pool equipment.

Qualifications include:

  • Partial high school graduation
  • Current and valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Pool Operator’s Level 1 and 2 certificates
  • Building Maintenance Worker Course
  • Clear Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector

While the Pool Operator Level 1 and 2 courses are required for this position, there will be time and support provided for the successful candidates to attain these courses within a six-month time period.

Salary: $25.43-$27.41 hourly plus benefits

Hours per week: 40 hours – Shift Work
