Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a part-time regular Building Maintenance Worker position. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the ideal candidate will perform routine servicing and maintenance of refrigeration equipment; monitor and make necessary adjustments to brine level, flow and temperature; clean and disinfect change rooms, washrooms, activity rooms, lockers and hallways; set up rooms for functions; unload and move shipments of materials and supplies; prepare and handle various cleaning materials; undertake facility repairs; make and maintain ice using various equipment and machinery; maintain garbage disposal and re-cycling programs; maintain a high level of cleanliness of various public rooms, offices and equipment.

Other preferred qualifications include:

  • High school graduation
  • Refrigerator Operator’s (Class 5) Certificate
  • Current and valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License
  • 2 years of related experience

Salary: $33.87 hourly plus benefits (2023 rates)
