Traffic Advisory: Esquimalt 5K on Saturday April 7

Esquimalt's annual 5K community run will be taking place Saturday, April 7th, 2018. Please use extra caution and note that short term road closures will be in effect 8:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. along the course route.

The children's 1K event will start at 9:00 a.m. and is an out and back route down Lyall Street from the lacrosse box at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre to Macaulay Elementary School. The most significant closure will take place on Lyall Street from Lampson to Fraser Streets during the 1K and at the start of the 5K, approximately 8:55 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. 

There will be no street parking on Lyall Street from Lampson to Fraser Street from 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 6th to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7th.

Drivers accessing the Archie Browning Sports Centre during the event are asked to enter via Esquimalt Road. Please avoid the Lyall Street entrance to the facility rear lot between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The scenic route includes parts of Saxe Point Park and Macaulay Point Park. Esquimalt Parks and Recreation anticipates most participants will be on park trails during the following times: 

  • Macaulay Point Park - 9:35 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • Saxe Point Park - 9:40 a.m. to 10:25 a.m.

For the safety of participants and pets, park users walking their dogs at Macaulay Point Park in the unleashed areas are kindly requested to leash up their pets during the event.
