As of Friday, March 20 at 4:30 p.m., all municipal buildings in Esquimalt will be closed to the public until further notice.
Many Township services are available online or can be taken care of over the phone.
Common services:
- Engineering applications, including requests for traffic calming, parking restrictions or boulevard alterations can be submitted by email to [email protected].
- For building or development permits, find information online or contact our Development Services Department with questions.
- Tree permits are now being processed over the phone, residents can call 250-412-8513. They can also be sent in electronically at [email protected]. Further follow up with the property owner will take place over the phone and by email. Please tag the affect tree(s) and our arborist will attend to evaluate.
Some services will be available by appointment only. Residents may call or email the department directly for arrangements or contact general reception at 250-414-7100.
Other municipal operations:
- Park washrooms remain open at this time with additional sanitization practices in place.
- Kitchen scraps and garbage pickup will continue on its regular schedule. Residents are requested to continue having their cans out by 7 a.m. at the curb. They may notice workers wearing enhanced personal protection equipment. This is one of the precautionary measures we are using to help keep our staff safe. Yard waste drop-off services are currently available.
- The next scheduled council meeting is April 6. We will assess means of safely holding a meeting, if possible, using the most recent advice from our health authorities. Please check our website for details in the coming days. All committee meetings are tentatively scheduled until further notice.
- The Esquimalt Archives are available online only.

An exception to the closure have been spring break camps. These camps provide a needed service to families in the community and it is the Township’s goal at this time to keep them running until the end of spring break on March 27. It’s important to note that the camps are operating under the strict health procedures outlined by provincial health authorities and may close should staff receive new information that makes it essential to do so.
