Come on out and cheer on participants in the LifeMark Health Esquimalt 5k Fun Run and Walk, being held Saturday, March 10th.

The Kids 1K Fun Run starts at 7:45 a.m., while the 5K  race begins at 8:30 a.m. Some 500 runners and walkers are expected to take part in the event.

The race route, starting from the Esquimalt Recreation Centre, comprises Lyall Street, Grafton Street, Admirals Road, Clifton Terrace, Lampson Street, and Munro Street as well as Saxe Point Park and Macaulay Point Park.

Drivers will still have access to these areas during the event, but are asked to exercise caution while participants are on the course. Traffic controllers wearing safety vests will be directing vehicles at intersections, and there may be delays while runners pass through, particularly at the starting area at the corner of Lyall and Fraser.

Residents living on the race route are also advised to use caution when pulling out of their driveways and to watch for participants.
