McLoughlin Amenity Funds Ideas Fair

Thursday, February 22, 2018 -
15:00 to 20:00
Where: Council Chambers, Esquimalt Municipal Hall, 1229 Esquimalt Road
When: February 22, 2018 -
3:00PM to 8:00PM

The Township of Esquimalt is hosting an Ideas Fair to gather public input on ideas for the use of the McLoughlin Point Amenity Reserve Funds.

The event is a unique opportunity for residents to provide input into the use of the funds, which will be directed towards capital projects in waterfront parks, recreation facilities and public safety facilities. The $17 million contribution—which is to be used within the next five years—will not be spent on projects outside of these categories.

The event format is drop-in and casual with two short introductory presentations at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Staff members and engagement consultants will be on hand to answer questions and facilitate participation. Ideas for community projects will be gathered on display boards and a questionnaire will be available for residents to fill out.

Be sure to sign in at the Ideas Fair to enter one of three $100 prize packages!

In addition to the Ideas Fair, there will be two other opportunities to provide input in the first round of engagement, including Idea Walls located at the library, recreation centre and municipal hall, as well as an online questionnaire. These opportunities will be open until March 15.

A second round of community engagement occurring later in the spring will provide opportunities to review the themes and ideas that surfaced in round one. The full engagement process will run from February through July, 2018, and input on the use of the funds will be compiled and presented to the newly elected Township Council early in 2019.

Project and engagement details, including a backgrounder and a process timeline, are available at www.esquimaltca/engage.
