Fire Department

Community Involvement

Esquimalt fire fighters are active in the community.

These are some of the ways that fire fighters make a difference:
  • The Esquimalt Fire Benevolent Association hosts the Buccaneer Days Dance, which raises money to support amateur sports in Esquimalt.
  • During their off duty time, Esquimalt fire fighters host the annual Esquimalt High School Heat Rugby tournament.
  • Fire Fighters coach Little League baseball in Esquimalt
  • Esquimalt Fire Fighters offer CPR classes at cost to public groups.
  • Fire fighters provide a free infant car seat clinic
  • Esquimalt fire fighters are involved in a children's reading program based out the Esquimalt branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library.
  • The Fire Fighters’ Benevolent fund provides financial support to Esquimalt families over the Christmas season.
  • The fire fighters participate each year in the Muscular Dystrophy Fundraising Boot Drive
  • The Fire Department started an initiative called Fire Fighters Against Cancerous Exposures (F.A.C.E.) in 2007 to raise awareness about fire fighters’ risk of exposure to carcinogens and to raise funds for the BC Cancer Agency and Firefighters Cancer Support Network.
