Freeman Ken Hill Park

In February 2007 Esquimalt Council approved the creation and naming of Freeman Ken Hill Park at the corner of Lyall and Grafton Streets. It is an interesting rocky outcrop overlooking Esquimalt Harbour. In October 2006 staff conducted a community consultation process for this park and collected the resident’s vision for Freeman Ken Hill Park.

The park will be a place where all community members gather for relaxation, reflection, and to enjoy the view. The park has native plant species such as Garry Oaks, and will have benches for sitting and paths for walking. A small creative play structure will provide a space for children to experience outdoor recreation, while promoting healthy lifestyles in a safe environment. Seniors and children will jointly share the park and interact positively. It will be a space that will reflect the spirit of community that former Mayor Ken Hill embodied and enjoyed.
